Army chief of staff given Brazilian naval honor

BEIRUT: The Army’s chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Walid Salman, has received the Order of the Naval Merit of Brazil, it was announced Friday.

Brazil’s ambassador to Lebanon, Affonso Emilio de Alencastro Massot, presided over the award ceremony, which took place aboard the Brazilian frigate “Constituiç?o,” the flagship vessel in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon’s maritime task force.

Also decorated at the ceremony were the Brazilian Ambassador to Cyprus Dante Coelho de Lima and the commander of the UNIFIL Maritime Task Force, Rear Adm. Joese Leandro.
