Drugs seized at Beirut airport, Syrian arrested

BEIRUT: A Syrian who was headed to an Arab Gulf country has been arrested at Beirut’s international airport for trying to smuggle a quantity of drugs, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement Friday.

The police statement said that Syrian H.M., 30, was arrested at Rafik Hariri International Airport on Thursday after some 5 kilograms of Captagon tablets hidden in his luggage was discovered.

The police said H.M. was referred to the Central Anti-Drug Office.
