BEIRUT: A 24-year old Syrian man was mugged by four armed assailants in the Chouf area of Saadiyat Wednesday night, security sources told The Daily Star.
The attackers, who drove a silver Nissan, robbed Hassan Nasser Matar of his mobile phone and $150 before dropping him off near the rear entrance of the Jiyyeh power plant. Lebanon has been plagued by a wave of armed robberies in recent months, many of them targeting Syrians.
Meanwhile, in the town of Kfar Abida in Batroun, the Motocross Lebanon club was the target of the theft of 17 of the club’s new KTM racing motorcycles.
