BEIRUT: A policeman and his unidentified companion were killed early Wednesday in a car accident on the Damour highway.

Security sources said Nader Suleiman and another man were killed instantly after Suleiman’s car hit a tanker truck at 6 a.m., citing speeding as the cause of the accident.

Separately, Sharbel Karam, 56, was killed in the village of Hawsh Tal Safieh in Baalbek when the tractor he was driving overturned.

Also in the Bekaa Valley, a car driven by Mahmoud Moqaddam, struck a 5-year-old Syrian boy, Khaled Hasan. Hasan was taken to hospital for treatment.
