BEIRUT: Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai pleaded Monday with the international community “to assume the responsibility of bringing peace to the Middle East.”
Speaking in Venezuela, Rai said “it’s a pity that we hear international voices calling for war in the Middle East.
There are international resolutions that the international players should respect including those related to the Palestinian cause and liberating the Arab territories and peace in the region.”
“We are responsible for safeguarding the holy lands and not turning them into lands where violence, war and terrorism prevail,” Rai said.
“The world conscious is dead and the international community is not doing enough to bring about peace.”
