BEIRUT: A speeding taxi van ran into a number of cars parked on the side of a road in Beirut’s Furn El-Shubbak district Wednesday, injuring three people, security sources said.
A source told The Daily Star online that among the casualties were two Lebanese Army soldiers who were passengers on the taxi van. The third, a civilian, was identified as Yehya Mahmoud Shibli.
The source said that all three men had suffered medium injuries and were reported to be in stable condition after the early morning accident.
At least six cars were damaged, the source added.
He said the taxi driver, identified as Zuheir Islamil, was taken in for interrogation.
