Wife of Saudi crown prince dies in Paris hospital
Agence France Presse

RIYADH: The wife of ailing Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz has died in a hospital in Paris, the royal court said.

"Princess Monira bint Abdulaziz bin Jalawi died in a hospital in the French capital," an overnight statement said, without elaborating.

The princess was the mother of Prince Khaled bin Sultan, the assistant minister of defence and aviation.

Prince Sultan, who continues to hold the portfolio of defence and aviation, has been in hospital in the United States since June. The half-brother of King Abdullah has been mostly away from the kingdom over the past years for treatment.

Diplomats in Riyadh say Sultan suffers cancer, but nothing has been officially disclosed about the nature of his illness.
