SANAA, Yemen: Yemeni security officials say four people, including a child and a soldier, have been killed in clashes between the army and residents of a town in the country's south.

The fighting broke out Tuesday evening after residents of al-Gleela in al-Dhala province refused to allow soldiers to set up a base in the town.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.
