Russia foreign minister to visit Syria for Assad talks

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he will visit Damascus on Tuesday alongside the head of the Russian foreign intelligence service for talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

"On the order of the Russian president, myself and Mikhail Fradkov will visit Damascus on February 7 for a meeting with Bashar al-Assad," Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference Saturday.
