7 killed in attacks on Baghdad Shiite areas: officials

BAGHDAD: A car bomb and mortar attacks against predominantly Shiite neighbourhoods in north Baghdad killed at least seven people Tuesday, security and medical officials said.

Multiple mortars struck the Chikouk area, while a car bomb exploded in Shuala, an interior ministry official said, putting the toll at nine dead and 12 wounded. A medical official said seven people died and 22 were hurt, but warned that the toll could rise.
