BEIRUT: Unknown gunmen stormed an opposition media outlet in the city of Aleppo and kidnapped a journalist, pro-opposition sources said Friday.
They said Milad Shehabi from Shahba Press was taken overnight by masked men in the neighborhood of Masaken Hanano.
Some outlets held militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) responsible for the kidnapping.
The outlets said Shehabi’s brother Amir was arrested by the regime over 18 months ago, also in Masaken Hanano.
The hard-line Al-Qaeda affiliate has been blamed for a string of disappearances of media and relief activists in recent months, although another Al-Qaeda group, the Nusra Front, has executed several members of a rogue unit of the rebel Free Syrian Army for their alleged involvement in some of the incidents.
In the Idlib town of Maaret al-Numan, residents held signs denouncing ISIS during Friday’s nationwide demonstrations.
