CAIRO: The head of Syria's main opposition coalition said on Monday visits to the United States and Russia for talks to resolve Syria's civil war had been postponed.

The coalition was not yet in contact with Damascus after the Syrian foreign minister said the government was ready to talk to the armed opposition, he said.

"The visit to Moscow is delayed now until we see how things develop," Syrian National Coalition leader Moaz Alkhatib told reporters in Cairo.
