OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a mortar shell into Israel on Sunday without causing any casualties or damage to property, the military said.

A spokeswoman for the Israeli military told AFP that the shell struck near the border fence with the coastal strip, which is ruled by the Islamist movement Hamas.

The last projectile fired at Israel from Gaza was on September 28.
