Rima Fleihan resigns from National Coalition

BEIRUT: A prominent member of the National Coalition has announced her resignation from the opposition-in-exile group, which she said needed an overhaul.

Rima Fleihan said: “I no longer feel I have the power to effect any positive change inside the coalition.”

She also complained that coalition meetings had been dominated by tension and a lack of trust among its members, calling for a “new start.”

Fleihan, a Druze from the province of Swaida, vowed to continue the fight against “dictatorship of the Assad regime, or any other dictatorship.”
