Fresh US airstrikes in northern Iraq: US official

WASHINGTON: The United States has carried out more air strikes in Iraq, a senior U.S. defense official said Wednesday amid a threat by Islamist militants to execute a second U.S. journalist.

"There have been additional strikes since yesterday," the official, who asked not to be identified, told AFP.
