Egyptian defects from ISIS, says group ignored Zawahri

BEIRUT: An Egyptian national announced his defection from the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) in a video posted on YouTube Thursday. The man, identified as Abu Ibrahim al-Masri, said ISIS had erred by disregarding the orders of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri, who last year tasked the Nusra Front, another Al-Qaeda group, with responsibility for Syria. The man said he had joined the Nusra Front and added that ISIS members were guilty of clashing with other militias instead of trying to overthrow President Bashar Assad’s regime. “They hate the Free Syrian Army, they hate the Nusra Front, and they hate all of the other [armed] groups,” he said.
