BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri praised the Egyptian referendum for a new constitution Wednesday, saying it was a great accomplishment for the Egyptian people.
“This achievement is a step on the right track for Egypt to recover its position, and all Arabs hope it will,” Hariri said in a statement issued by his office.
For a second day, Egyptians voted in a referendum on a new constitution.
“In this sense, it does not only reflect the Egyptian will to end the transitional period and its dangerous repercussions for Egypt’s security, identity and future, but it also expresses the hope of all Arabs to see Egypt triumph over the ordeal that [Egyptians] have had to cope with, and become the political and security haven the Egyptian people deserve,” he said.
