Man killed in Beirut shooting

BEIRUT: A man was shot and killed Tuesday when unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle in Khaldeh Beirut, a security source said.

The security source identified the victim as Mohammad Khayal, adding that his brother Ibrahim was also wounded in the shooting.

The Khayals were in their Renault Rapid when unknown assailants opened fire on them from another vehicle, before fleeing the scene of the crime.

The Renault was riddled with bullets, with 15 hitting the windshield and the engine damaged by three.

An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident.
