BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri sent a message Tuesday to congratulate the new Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa after the country adopted a new constitution.
Appointed in December after the country’s ruling Islamist party Ennahda agreed to step down, technocrat Jomaa is the head of an interim government that will rule until elections later this year.
The new constitution, seen as one of the most modern in the Arab world, was approved by the Tunisian Parliament Monday.
Hariri said he hoped Jomaa would “achieve the Tunisian people’s aspiration for progress and prosperity.”
