BEIRUT: The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said Wednesday that at least 5 members of an Israeli special forces unit were killed and 15 wounded when the group blew up a booby-trapped building in Farhin, east of Khan Younes.
“The Qassam fighters lured an Israeli special forces unit into a building in the al-Farhin region, east of Khan Younes, and blew it up,” the group said in a statement. “All members of the Israeli unit were trapped under the rubble. Afterward, the Israelis started a bombing rampage the area around the building.”
If the deaths are confirmed, this would bring Israeli military losses to 53 soldiers. The Israeli assault on Gaza has also killed 1,296 Palestinians, while three civilians in Israel have died from rocket fire.
