Celebratory gunfire 'kills 3' in Damascus as Assad win announced

BEIRUT: Celebratory shots fired by supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad killed at least three people in Damascus as his election victory was announced late on Wednesday, a monitoring group said.

"At least three people were killed and dozens more wounded as a result of celebratory gunfire shot by Assad supporters," said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
