Northern Storm joins Tawhid Brigade

BEIRUT: The Northern Storm rebel group active along Syria’s northern border with Turkey has joined the Tawhid Brigade, one of seven groups making up the Islamic Front alliance.

The group issued a short handwritten statement Sunday indicating that it would cease to operate under its former name and that it would be part of the Islamic Front, but under the rubric of Tawhid, which also has a strong presence in Aleppo province.

Northern Storm was earlier linked to the seizing of 11 Lebanese Shiites who were returning from a pilgrimage in Iran.
