The Lebanese state is not capable of responding to the jihadi threat on its eastern border with Syria, Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said Tuesday, so the party's fighters are taking responsibility of securing the region. This is why Hezbollah will resolve the issue, Nasrallah continued. The speech came hours after Hezbollah troops ambushed a Nusra convoy in the Qalamoun on the outskirts of the Lebanese enclave of Tfail, killing 15 militants, according to a Lebanese security source.Nasrallah said that Hezbollah did not initiate the clashes in Qalamoun, blaming instead the militants. The militants aim to attack Hezbollah positions, occupy Lebanese land, attack Lebanese soldiers and Lebanese civilians as evidenced by developments in Arsal, he added.
