The Syrian army and its allies seized a strategic position in Aleppo's western countryside Wednesday, capitalizing on its recent gains in the area.Col. John Dorrian, a spokesman for the coalition, told AFP it appeared there had been strikes in the area.The Observatory said the latest deaths brought the number of civilians killed since U.S.-led airstrikes in Syria began in September 2014 to 680, including 169 children.In other developments, Israeli forces attacked a Syrian artillery position Wednesday, hours after a rocket from Syria hit the occupied Golan Heights, the Israeli army said.The rocket was believed to be stray fire from fighting between the Syrian government forces and rebels.
