Germany's new foreign minister has urged the Palestinians "not to tear down bridges," in an apparent reference to President Mahmoud Abbas' contentious relationship with the United States and political rival Hamas. In December, Trump recognized occupied Jerusalem as Israel's capital, prompting Abbas to rule out the United States as a future Middle East broker.Meanwhile, an Israeli tank struck two Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip late Sunday after bullets were fired from the Palestinian enclave, the Israeli army said. Two observation points belonging to the armed wing of the Palestinian movement were struck in the northern part of the enclave, according to the army.
