BEIRUT: Lebanon filed Monday a complaint against Israel at the United Nations for firing missiles into south Lebanon on Nov. 29.

The complaint by the Foreign Ministry, which was filed through Lebanon’s permanent delegation at the U.N. headed by Nawaf Salam, stated that the action by the Jewish state was a violation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 as well as international laws and pacts.

It also said that the violation threatened international peace and security.

On Nov. 29, one rocket was fired from southern Lebanon into Israel overnight, prompting Israeli troops to retaliate by firing six artillery shells into the same remote area where the rockets were launched.

Israel ruled out that Hezbollah was responsible for the attack.

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman described the attack as an individual incident, saying that it was a violation of UNSCR 1701.

“The firing of rockets, which was carried out individually, toward occupied Palestinian territory does not serve the interest of solidarity with the Palestinian people,” Sleiman said in a statement on the day of the attack.

I follow the news of the world rather well, and the news of our Middle East like a maniac using not just our well placed Israeli sources, but European media of the Middle East so your news post struck me as strange.
Yes we were firstly hit by a rocket from Lebanon and as our military has on record we fired back not at Beirut but at the same area which hit us.Mainly to get the message accross.Reading your headline one gets the idea that we started the whole thing. Very excellent reporting. "Man bites dog".

Where did this group get ahold of one of Hezbullah's missle to fire at Israel. That was the deal breaker Lebanon should be greatful that Isreal just fired rockets at the place where it was fired from. The difference was Lebanon was trying to kill Israelis Israelis were just sending a message.

YOU FORGET TO MENTION IN THE HEADLINE AN ARTICLE...LEBANON STARTED THIS WHOLE MESS...LIKE THE OTHER BORDER BREACH IN AUG. TOO...STOP BLAMING ISRAEL FOR ALL THE TROUBLE, HEZBO THE LEZBO'S STARTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST....

Who fired first is clear. Whose fire it was is now also clear. If Quaida does not take responsability for the attack and names Hezbollah the ones who fired the rockets- then you know its Hezbollah despite the denials by Nasrallah. Who like to camoflage their deeds.

I'll never understand middle east politics ..
A rocket was fired into Israel, Israel returned the fire...Shouldnt it be Israel who should complain to the UN?
Also the lebanese rocket targeted the Galilee, Not the West Bank or the Golan, so how come the Lebanese president said they were fired towards "Occupied Palestinian territory" ..The Galilee is within Israels 1948 UN Borders
