BEIRUT: Lebanon’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani has appointed a permanent representative of Dar al-Fatwa, the country’s highest Sunni Muslim religious authority, in Australia.

State-run National News Agency said Sheikh Malek Ahmad Zaidan has been named to the position after his return from a month-long pilgrimage with a group of Australian pilgrims.
