BEIRUT: Prime Minister Najib Mikati will visit south Lebanon in the next two days where he will visit various units of the Lebanese Army and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Mikati’s press office said Friday.
Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and Armed Forces Com. Gen. Jean Kahwaji will accompany Mikati on his first visit to the south since his appointment as prime minister on Jan. 25.
Mikati also received well-wishers Friday in his hometown of Tripoli where he promised that the government would address pressing issues facing Lebanese.
“We realize the size of the burden on citizens and their daily suffering because of the increase in prices and their concern over the present and future ... this is why the government will set as a priority finding solutions to these problems,” he said, expressing confidence in his Cabinet’s ability to work as a team.
