BEIRUT: Former Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos is due to arrive in Beirut Wednesday on a visit aimed at enlisting Lebanon’s support for his candidacy to the post of Food and Agriculture Organization director general in the elections set for June 25 in Rome, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Moratinos will meet in the afternoon Wednesday with Speaker Nabih Berri before holding talks with President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, the NNA said.
He will also meet caretaker Agriculture Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan and caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Shami, it added.
