Hezbollah not in favor of civil status law, says Qassem
A+ A-
BEIRUT: Hezbollah’s deputy secretary-general said Monday that his party was against adopting a civil personal status law in Lebanon, saying it “contradicts completely the sacred Sharia.”

“Civil personal status law contradicts the [Islamic] legitimate personal status law and we do not accept it,” Sheikh Naim Qassem said.

“We have a different opinion on many details included [in the draft law] related to inheritance, rights and duties of the husband and wife and adoption,” Qassem added.
