Houri: Hezbollah was first to intervene in Syria
A+ A-

BEIRUT: Hezbollah officials should be questioned before Future Movement MP Oqab Saqr for their involvement in arming and fighting alongside the Syrian regime, Beirut MP Ammar Houri said Wednesday. “Questioning Hezbollah should come first since they opened the door for intervening in the Syrian affairs,” said Houri in an interview. Earlier this week, Saqr admitted that the audio recordings implicating him in arms dealing with the rebel Free Syrian Army were authentic, drawing a protest from politicians in the March 8 coalition. Saqr is scheduled to hold a news conference at Sheraton Hotel in Istanbul at noon Thursday. But Houri said that since the beginning of the uprising in Syria, Hezbollah’s leadership had openly announced that they would stand by the Syrian regime and they have admitted fighting in the war against the Syrian opposition. “Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah admitted that Hezbollah members died in battles in jihad-related duties, while our stance from the beginning has been in support of the Syrian people,” Houri added.
