BEIRUT: Four wounded Syrians who crossed the border into Lebanon were transported to a state-run hospital in Tripoli, north Lebanon, reported the National News Agency Wednesday.
The wounded Syrians, who crossed into Lebanon via the Bekaa border town of Al-Qaa, were taken in a Lebanese Red Cross ambulance to Tripoli’s government-run hospital.
The United Nations estimates that more than 5,400 Syrians have been killed since March 2011 as a result of the crackdown launched by Damascus against protesters calling for reforms in the tightly controlled state. U.N. statistics also indicate that more than 5,600 Syrians have fled to Lebanon since the outbreak of the uprising and that around 150 wounded Syrians have been treated in Lebanon.
