BEIRUT: Foreign Affairs Minister returned Monday to Beirut after a six-day visit to Libya as part of efforts to reveal the truth behind the case of missing Shiite Imam Musa Sadr.
Mansour said over the weekend that cooperation between Lebanon and Libya on the case of Sadr was a step toward developing relations between the two countries.
The minister was quoted as saying that revealing the truth behind Sadr's disappearance was a priority and expressed his hope that the case would help develop relations between the Lebanese and Libyan people, the National News Agency reported.
Sadr and two of his companions, Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine, went missing in August 1978 during an official visit to the Libyan capital upon the invitation of former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
The relationship between Lebanon and Libya was severed under Gadhafi’s rule but has thawed under Libya's new government.
