BEIRUT: Former French President Jacques Chirac was the latest prominent figure to check on the health of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who just had surgery for a skiing injury suffered over the weekend.

Chirac visited Hariri at the American hospital in Paris, a statement from Hariri’s office said Wednesday.

Hariri underwent surgery Saturday for fractures to his left leg incurred during a skiing accident in the French Alps. He is expected to be discharged from hospital within a matter of days.

The former Lebanese prime minister has received a flood of phone calls from various Lebanese, regional and international figures wishing him a swift recovery.

Hariri’s office said Wednesday the most recent calls the Future Movement head has received were from Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Sabah, Saudi Information Minister Abdel-Aziz Khoja, Curacao Economy Minister Nasser al-Hakim, Mrs. Aida Rashid Solh on behalf of her husband, and former Ministers Adnan Kassar and Salim Warde, among others.

These officials are never concerned about the victims of oppression, crime, terrorism, wars, invasions, etc. But they are quick to check on the health of a billionaire over a skiing accident! All of them are hypocrites to the core.
