BEIRUT: Lebanon’s President Michel Sleiman has signed off on the Cabinet’s wage-hike decree.

This means that employees across the country can expect to receive the long-awaited raise by the end of January, Minister of Labor Charbel Nahhas told a local TV station Wednesday.

The Cabinet had passed four previous wage plans, all of which were rejected by the Shura Council for failing to conform entirely to Labor Laws.

The acrimony and bickering over the current plan lasted four months before it was finally accepted.
