BEIRUT: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea met Saturday a delegation from the Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party.
Following talks at Maraab, the head of the delegation, Haiman Hourami, said the two discussed bilateral issues “given the developments in the region.”
He said visit came as part of a series of visits to a number of Lebanese political leaders.
Hourami stressed the need to secure political stability in Lebanon, “which would have a positive impact on developing relations between Lebanon and [Iraqi] Kurdistan.”
He praised ties with the Lebanese party, describing them as “historic.”
“We share historic ties with Dr. Geagea as well as a strong relationship between the Lebanese Forces and the Kurdistan Democratic Party,” he added.
Responding to reporter’s questions, Hourmai said his party was following the situation in Syria, “where there are over 2 million Kurds in Syria.”
He said his party backed the “will of Syrian people that deserves democracy, justice and stability.”
