BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri will announce a new manifesto for his Future Movement party in the middle of this week, a party source told The Daily Star Monday.

“[Hariri] who is traveling to Saudi Arabia to follow up on some of his business, will make a televised speech Wednesday ... to announce the manifesto of the Future Movement titled the ‘The Future Movement and the Horizon of the Arab Spring,'” the source said.

According to An-Nahar, which carried the story Monday, Hariri’s speech will contain a call on all Lebanese parties to “bolster the interior scene and not tie the fate of any Lebanese party to the outside, particularly the Syrian regime.”

Under the section titled “Lebanon First,” the paper said Hariri would also urge Hezbollah to surrender its arms to the state.

The manifesto, the newspaper added, will be 18 pages long and will reaffirm the party’s call for mutual coexistence and support for the Taif Accord and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. It will also stress the right of all people to enjoy freedom and democracy.
