BEIRUT: The Army called on Lebanese citizens to report immediately any suspicious incident, adding that military units have boosted security measures and arrested members of several gangs across the country.

“With the recent mounting levels of organized crimes ... the General Directorate of the Lebanese Army and [military] units deployed across Lebanon have boosted investigation and security measures, and were able to uncover a large number of criminal gangs and are pursuing the rest,” the Army command said in a statement.

The statement urged Lebanese to inform the nearest police of any crime or to dial 1701 to contact the Army command’s center of operations.

The Army also called on citizens to report any suspicious items or incidents, and to try to identify the physical appearance of criminals, their cars and motorcycles and try to figure out their destination after committing a crime.
