BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and a delegation from the Council of Arab and International Relations met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow and discussed Russia’s stance on Syria, Siniora’s media office said in a statement Monday. According to the statement, the meeting lasted for half an hour and focused on regional developments, in particular the ongoing crisis in Syria and Russia’s stance on it. The delegation also met with Russia’s Foreign Affairs Council, which includes Russian academics and former officials. The Council of Arab and International Relations is headed by Kuwaiti lawmaker Mohammad Saqr, and among its members are Siniora, former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, and former Jordanian Prime Minister Taher Masri.
