BEIRUT: Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour held talks in New York with his Syrian counterpart Walid Moallem on ways of ending the crisis in Lebanon’s neighbor, the National News Agency reported Saturday.

“Mansour met Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, in the presence of the Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Meqdad, Syria’s representative to the U.N. Bashar Jaafari and Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad al-Makdissi and the head of Mansour’s office Rayyan Said,” the NNA said.

“During the meeting discussions focused on the latest developments in Syria and ongoing contacts with numerous partners to find a solution to the crisis in Syria,” it added.

The agency said Mansour’s meeting with the Syrian officials came on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly General Session in New York.

He also met the foreign minister of Cyprus, Armenia and Mauritania.
