BEIRUT: Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour and Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Asiri travelled together to Jordan overnight, a source at Rafik Hariri International Airport said Tuesday.
The source, speaking to The Daily Star on condition of anonymity, said the two men headed to Amman on a private plane late Monday.
No details were given as to the nature of the visit.
The Progressive Socialist Party, to which Abu Faour belongs, have repeatedly expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's initiatives to support Lebanon, most importantly the brokering of the 1989 Taif Accord that ended Lebanon's Civil War as well as contributing to postwar reconstruction efforts.
