BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri offered condolences Monday to the families of two Lebanese Army officers killed in an ambush in the east Lebanon town of Arsal.

The head of the Future Movement telephoned the families of Capt. Pierre Bashaalani and Sergeant Ibrahim Zahraman “to express his full express "his full solidarity with the families" and emphasize the "need to see justice take its full course," according to a statement from his office.

President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn vowed Sunday to arrest the gunmen involved in the ambush which left two officers dead.

Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi, who described the ambush as a “premeditated crime," also pledged to punish the “criminals” who fired on the Army patrol trying to hunt down a wanted man in Arsal Friday.
