BEIRUT: U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly met Monday with Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi for talks on the latter’s recent visit to Washington, a statement from the ambassador said.

Talks touched on Safadi’s discussions with officials from the U.S. government, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank during his visit to the U.S. last week.

Safadi and Connelly also discussed bilateral relations and assistance for refugees as well as the political, economic, and security situation in Lebanon and regional events, the statement said.

The ambassador also extended her condolences for the recent loss of Lebanese Army personnel in Arsal during clashes with residents of the eastern town last week.
