BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Thursday those behind the assassination of his father in 2005 would be brought to justice, “sooner or later.”

“The work of the Special Tribunal [for Lebanon] carries on and the criminals will be punished, sooner or later,” he said during a televised speech.

The STL was established to try those behind the Feb. 14, 2005 assassination of Hariri father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. In 2011, the U.N.-backed court indicted four members of Hezbollah. The resistance group denies any involvement in the case.
