BEIRUT: Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt headed Friday afternoon to Riyadh where he is expected to meet with a number of Saudi officials.
In an interview with al-Arabiya television late Thursday, Jumblatt said that former Prime Minister Saad Hariri informed him that his visit to the Saudi Kingdom would happen shortly.
Jumblatt’s most recent visit to Saudi Arabia was in April 2012, a trip that aimed at breaking the ice between the PSP leader and Riyadh.
Ties between the two had deteriorated after Jumblatt’s decision in early 2011 to opt for Prime Minister Najib Mikati to replace Hariri, then prime minister.
