Bassil to sue media outlets over defamatory claims
A+ A-

BEIRUT: Energy Minister Gebran Bassil announced Monday that his lawyers would sue several media outlets and journalists for defamation, the Central News Agency reported.

Bassil’s lawyers said in a statement, “Legal action will not be taken against [all] media outlets for publishing false stories about him but he cannot allow the aggressive campaign of daily defamation to carry on against the minister.”

The statement added that the journalists who were conducting the campaign were being paid by the minister’s political enemies.

Bassil reminded the media outlets that insist on insulting him that he had won several libel and slander cases against media outlets in the past, the statement added.
