France slams apparent US journalist execution

PARIS: France Wednesday lashed out at the apparent execution of American journalist James Foley at the hands of Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) jihadists, labeling it a "barbaric act."

Government spokesman Stephane Le Foll told reporters: "This is a barbaric act that plays on fear." Separately, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius described it as a "disgusting assassination."
