DONETSK, Ukraine: Mortar fire pounded the centre of east Ukraine's main rebel stronghold Wednesday close to the stadium of leading football team Shakhtar Donetsk, AFP journalists at the scene said.
One man was lightly injured by the blasts which caused heavy damage in an area around 500 metres (yards) from the city's main stadium, built as a venue for the Euro 2012 championships.
