Several hundred journalists protested Monday throughout Serbia against the "deteriorating media freedoms" and mounting political pressure they face in the Balkan country.In the northern town of Pancevo journalists were "forced" to join the ruling Serbian Progressive Party if they want to keep their job, according to the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia, which has called for an end to the pressure.Serbian journalists have held protests fortnightly since their first gathering in early December to demand that Serbia's defence minister be sacked over an insulting remark to a female colleague.
