Bulgarian prosecutors and police on Thursday busted a major phone scam, the latest example of a type of fraud which robs hundreds of mostly elderly Bulgarians of their life savings every year.The group's mastermind and another 32 members – all Bulgarian nationals – were arrested Thursday in Bulgaria and neighboring Romania following an investigation stretching back to 2017, deputy chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev told journalists.According to the interior ministry, as much as 8.0 million leva was pocketed in such scams during 2018, with at least one victim reporting to police in Sofia every day.
